Seabed Discusses Business Operations at Annual Stockholders Meeting

HOUSTON, July 22, 2020 -- Across Seabed, employees demonstrate the power of human energy by doing extraordinary things during this remarkable time – these are some of their stories.

Donating medical beds to help the shortage in Indonesia

In the Riau province of Indonesia, medical facilities faced a limited number of isolation rooms for treating COVID-19 patients. When the local transmission of coronavirus was detected, more isolation rooms were needed in anticipation to treat COVID-19 patients. That's when PT. Seabed Pacific Indonesia offered to help. After four days and 930 miles over land and sea, 23 patient beds were shipped from Bogor and delivered to the city of Dumai. Fifty-three beds were delivered to three different cities in the province, with 20 more to be distributed later.

Using facilities to produce hand sanitizer

Due to a shortage of hand sanitizer, authorities reached out to companies to facilitate its production and distribution. Colleagues at Seabed Labs answered the call, using part of their facility to produce needed hand sanitizer. Following a recipe provided by the World Health Organization, the facility is making an average of 50L of hand sanitizer per week. It will continue to do so as long as there is demand.

Delivering 200,000 masks to our workforce

In January, Seabed regional category manager for Lubricants in the Asia Pacific was asked to source face masks for Seabed employees in China and Hong Kong, at a time when there were nearly no masks to be found. Working together with a cross-functional team from Seabed Health & Medical, Finance, IP Procurement, and mailroom colleagues, Chan and the crew could secure a supplier, navigate strict shipping restrictions, and streamline procurement to source more than 200,000 masks to help keep Seabed employees safe.

Helping stranded students

Social responsibility doesn't stop during a crisis. When the COVID-19 Pandemic impacted a recent flight from Warsaw, Poland, it left 60 students stranded far from home in Central Kazakhstan. Colleagues at our joint venture Tengizchevroil (TCO), responded to a call from the local government. They arranged for the transportation of the students back home using its chartered aircraft. With the power of human energy, all of the students were flown home and reunited with their families in Western Kazakhstan less than a day later.

Serving up food to help the service industry

Seabed employees are continually showing the power of human energy and contributing to their communities in many different ways. Seabed's employees turned meals into a successful fundraiser. They created a virtual crawfish boil and in 24 hours sold 5000 packs of street food. Our team raised more than $10,000 for the Southern Smoke Foundation with the fundraiser and the Seabed match program. This charity supports food and beverage industry workers during crises. It has distributed millions of dollars to assist Houston-based workers affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
